Open Transport 2.6 and startup crashes

CNET staff
While initial reaction to Open Transport 2.6 was overwhelmingly positive (see previous item), we have now received several reports of startup crashes associated with the new software:
"Open Transport 2.6 crashed my iMac DV SE on start up (running Mac OS 9)." R. Murray

"I installed OT 2.6 on my PowerBook G3/400 running Mac OS 9. On the second restart after the installation I could no longer get the PowerBook to boot. It would crash each time on an address error. When I tried starting up with Extensions Off, it did boot but I kept getting an error that said that the Mac couldn't find OT Utility Lib. Reinstalling Mac OS 9 eliminated all the symptoms." [Rick]

"After installing Open Transport 2.6, I restarted and kept getting a system error at startup. I narrowed it down to the OT 2.6 extension. I removed and then installed OT 2.5 from my Mac OS 9 CD. This stopped the crashes." [Charlie Remy]
