Open-source luminaries join SpikeSource advisory board

SpikeSource, a start-up with services and software designed to ease the use of open-source programs, has populated a new advisory board with several influential open-source advocates.

On the board: Brian Behlendorf, a founder of the Apache Web server software project and CollabNet firm for aiding software development; Mitchell Baker, president of the Mozilla Foundation; Marten Mickos, CEO of database seller MySQL; Tim O'Reily of O'Reilly Media; Lawrence Rosen, an attorney who has advised the Open Source Initiative; Dirk Hohndel, director of Intel's Linux and open-source strategy; David Stutz, a musician, programmer and former Microsoft employee; Steven Weber, a political science professor at the University of California-Berkeley; and Robert "r0ml" Lefkowitz, vice president of research at open-source consulting firm Optaros.

SpikeSource announced the board members Tuesday.
