OmniPage and scanners: a follow-up

Regarding yesterday's item describing a problem using ScanWise with OmniPage:

Ben Ostrov is running Mac OS X 10.1.2 with a USB connection to an Agfa SnapScan e52. He writes: "When I run ScanWise to scan text it automatically launches OmniPage Pro X. The OCR is processed with extreme accuracy. However, if I launch OmniPage Pro X first and go to its preferences, it fails to recognize the Agfa SnapScan e52 scanner. I cannot select it."

Jeff Lambert suggests: "The latest version of ScanWise X includes a plugin for OS 9 and a beta plugin for OS X. OmniPage may need the OS X plugin. Installing the plugin worked for me for another application."

Stephen Anderson adds: "OmniPage does not work with any SCSI scanners. ScanSoft confirmed this to me."
