Project calendar indication dots disappearing We continue to cover an issue where the colored dots on Office project calendar events (indicating their status) are no longer displayed after applying Security Update 2005-008. Apparently, this bug is caused by the security update's tighter restrictions on PICT and GIF images (intended to prevent a buffer overflow security breach).

One reader writes:

"I was able to double-check the problem on a machine running a non-Security updated version of Mac OS X 10.4.2. Entourage was running fine and displaying all colored dots etc. as usual. Applying Security Update 2005-007 did not change behavior, neither did the Java-Update. Security Update 2005-008 did the job -- the dots for projects vanished."

LDAP error message Some users are receiving an LDAP error message when attempting to enter a to: e-mail address in a new message.

One reader writes:

"Since installing the Service pack, when I enter an e-mail address in a new message, I intermittently get an LDAP error. I close the error window and proceed and there seems to be no further issue. But getting the error so often is very annoying. Also when entering a new address, I sometimes see multiple occurrences of the same address show up in the auto-fill menu. I'm guessing this has something to do with the fact that I seem to have multiple exchange address books now (Frequent contacts, Contacts, and username)."
