Virex 7.5.1 problems MacFixIt reader Peter MacLaren reports issues with Virex 7.5.1 for which we are seeking confirmation:

"I noted that the latest release Virex 7.5.1 is now on iDisk. I installed and it was a disaster. My PowerMac running 10.3.6 was stalled after restarting and logging in as Virex auto-starts after log in. After several tries I found that sometimes the Virex window was open and sometimes it was not but each time the Mac was frozen and a hard restart was necessary. The only fix was to restart in safe boot mode (shift key held down). I then removed the app from start up items. When Virex did not auto-start all was ok. However as soon as the app was manually started, even though it immediately resulted in a freeze, it appears it once again self installed itself as a start up item and caused a freeze again on restart and log in. The only permanent solution was to start again in safe boot and un-install the app completely using the un-install script in the installer package. Now all is ok again."

iCal 1.5.4: Problems with iSync We've also received word of some issues with Apple's recently released iCal 1.5.4 release. Trevor Harley writes:

"Ever since upgrading to iCal 1.5.4 this morning, I can no longer use iSync (1.5). Every time I try to synchronize the process gets half way through, and then stops, with the message: Assertion Failed! [...]"
