StuffIt Deluxe 9.0: Problems expanding older .sit files We are seeking confirmation from a problem we have been unable to reproduce in-house where StuffIt Deluxe 9.0 is unable to expand files created by older versions of the archiving tool.

MacFixIt reader Randy Smith writes: "I have been trying to unstuff quite a few stuffit archives made with an earlier version for OS 9 with Stuffit deluxe 9 for MacOS X. The problem, which only occurs with these older archives, is that it will slow down will extracting to the point the app appears to be frozen. These are very large archives and it seems that it will get halfway to nearly done expanded before the slow down really hits it. The archives never successfully expand, no errors, just a stuffit app that appears to be frozen. Using the terminal command TOP the stuffit engine shows it using nearly all of the processor usage."

Office v.X 10.1.6 and previously created PowerPoint files We're also seeking confirmation for problems opening previously created PowerPoint files after upgrading to Office v.X 10.1.6.

One reader writes "I applied this update and had no problems with Word or Excel, but then I tried to open some previously created Powerpoint files. Halfway through the opening process I get a message saying "PowerPoint cannot read (filename)". About half of my many Powerpoint files are affected, while the other half open just fine. I can't figure out a pattern that would explain why some open and others don't."
