RealPlayer 10 connection issues Several readers are reporting problems connecting to certain radio streams using the newly release RealPlayer 10 beta:
Robert Johns writes "RealPlayer 10, installed this morning, breaks my ability to listen to ordinary radio, at least in the case of WQXR. In attempts to link I am told I need an uninstalled audio codec, but attempts to install it lead to the message, 'Software is out of date' Premium radio does work. Rhapsody sounds good, but I miss WQXR.
AirPort Express/AirTunes and multiple users In Apple's Knowledge Base Article FAQ for AirPort Express #108038 the following question is posted:
- Question: Can iTunes send different AirTunes streams to different AirPort Express stations?
- Answer: No. iTunes only sends one stream to one AirPort Express at a time.
Based on this information, MacFixIt reader Richard Dey poses some interesting questions about multiple users and AirTunes:
"Has anyone attempted to see what happens with multiple users and FUS? Since you can now have multiple instances of iTunes running, under this circumstance is it possible to stream to multiple AirPort Express Stations? Or even to stream one instance while listening locally to another?"
If you are using multiple AirPort Express stations, or have experimented with the ability to listen to a music source in one user account, and stream another music source in a separate account, please drop us a line at late-breakers@macfixit.com.
MachFive 1.2 latency John Debo reports some latency issues with the latest version of MOTU's MachFive software:
"After running the 1.2 installer I had to adjust my playback buffer to 128 to avoid MASSIVE latency - sounds would be audible nearly two bars after triggered. Switching back to the earlier release."
If you are having a similar issue, please let us know.
