QuickTime downgrade tip For those deciding to downgrade from QuickTime 4.1 back to 4.0.3, as recommended for iBook users (see Troubleshooting QuickTime 4.1), Charlie Fletcher reminds us that the downgrade does not automatically uninstall the updated version of the Sound Manager extension. You will have to delete this yourself (as documented in Apple TIL article #60341).

ATI card replacement eliminates fan noise Regarding the previous item on noisy fans on ATI Rage 128 cards in Power Mac G4s, Joe Bongiovi reports that he contacted Apple about this and (after considerable discussion) they agreed to have someone come out and check the card. The end result was that a new card was ordered and swapped for the old card. This eliminated the noise.

ShrinkWrap and iDisk Aladdin System is touting the new ShrinkWrap 3.5.1 update as "the quickest and easiest way to create and distribute disk images, provides encryption security for iDisk users. With ShrinkWrap, iDisk users can create an exact byte-for-byte image of a file, encrypt it, and then save it to iDisk."

Acrobat 4.06 Previously, we described problems with the Distiller application in Acrobat 4.05. One report also mentioned the existence of a version 4.06 CD. We continue to get reports of this 4.06 CD (although all of the applications on the disc have a version string of 4.05 or 4.05a). It is still not clear whether this 4.06 CD is actually an update to 4.05 or is in fact the 4.05 update itself.
