Power Mac G4 Manual Omission As noted in Knowledge Base article #75356, Henrik Boes notes an ommitted step for installing an additional ATA 100 drive in Power Macintosh G4 Mirrored Drive Door systems:

"When describing how to install a second ATA-100 drive into the machine, the manual fails to mention that, before doing anything else, you need to remove a screw that affixes the drive chassis to the side wall. The manual only mentions releasing a clamp and a cable clip and then sliding the the chassis up and out. That works fine, after removing the screw."

DVD-RW compatibility Jeff Lambert notes that some DVD drives inlcuded with older Power Macintosh G4 systems are incapable of reading the DVD-RW media burned by newer machines, including the eMac. For clarification, the eMac can also burn DVD-R media, which are readable by most older models:

"To my surprise, my dual 450 G4 cannot read a DVD-RW burned on my eMac with toast. Turns out that the drive in my dual 450 G4 is a Hitachi GD-7000 which has these specs. The Compatible formats are: DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RAM, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, CM-ROM-XA, CD-I, CD Audio (CD-DA), Photo-CD Multi-session, CD-Extra, CD-Text. So my eMac's DVDs are not compatible."
