Odds and Ends: Older versions of JackPilot can cause Skype problems; Knowledge Base updates
Older versions of JackPilot can cause Skype problems MacFixIt reader Phil reports that the presence of older versions of the JackPilot application -- part of a package that allows the user to manage the audio connections between apps -- can cause problems with the Skype VOiP technology.
Phil writes:
"I have had Skype problems for a while. It appears in the dock, bounces a few times and then goes away. I know of several reports of this but no solution.
"It had been linked to the Skype version, the 10.3.7 (or 8) upgrade, the last security release and other things.
"I have just (upgraded to the latest JackPilot version and presto! Skype works again. The issue must be an audio clash somewhere which makes sense because my Skype crash log refers to Jack and core audio in the first few lines. Other people are possibly suffering from variations on the audio issue."
