iChat File Transfer Knowledge Base Article Apple has published a Knowledge Base article (#107192) detailing iChat's inability to transfer files through a Firewall using Rendezvous. The explanation reads:

"When initiating a chat via Rendezvous, you may see a white chat window that contains no text. This is because the Firewall enabled in the Sharing preference pane blocks Rendezvous chats and file transfers within iChat. Solution:

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
  2. Choose Sharing from the View menu.
  3. Click the Firewall tab.
  4. Click Stop to disable the built-in Firewall.
  5. Attempt the Rendezvous chat or file transfer. Either should work as expected."

Running Soundcheck in iTunes Frederick Wedler offers a workaround that allows the soundcheck operation in iTunes to be run after being cancelled during the application's first run:

  1. "First, export all of your custom playlists (except the smart lists that were default from iTunes) to text files one by one (File>Export Song List).
  2. Next, export your library the same way. Quit iTunes.
  3. Now, go to your iTunes folder and delete the 'iTunes 3 Music Library' and 'iTunes Music Library.xml' files.
  4. Start iTunes and it will be empty. Import the text file for your library that you exported. Once that finishes exporting, the soundcheck will run. Let it.
  5. Once soundcheck finishes it's scan, you can now import your playlists. You will also notice that importing the library file re-created your library, but also created a playlist called "Library." You can delete this.
  6. Voila. You entire music library soundchecked and all your playlists back.
