A fourth new iMac model? Reader Kenny Stevenson writes that the UK Online Apple Store for Higher Education lists a fourth new iMac model with a 40GB hard drive and no optical drive, but otherwise identical to the low-end 1.6GHz model. The model is listed at approximately US$1150.

UPDATE This fourth configuration is briefly mentioned in a Tuesday press release from Apple: "The new iMac G5 systems, including a new configuration without an optical drive, are also available to education customers in the US and Canada through the Apple Store for Education at www.apple.com/education/store or by calling an Apple education sales representative."

Symantec providing new bootable CD for Norton Utilities/SystemWorks Although Symantec has previously announced that they will no longer sell their Norton Utilities and Norton SystemWorks packages, the company recently announced -- quietly, through a knowledge base article -- updated versions of both utility packages' bootable CDs (Norton Utilities 8.0.2 and SystemWorks 3.0.1).

According to the article, these CDs will boot all Power Mac G5 models released prior to August 2004; any Mac that shipped with OS X 10.2.7-10.2.8, any Aluminum PowerBook G4, 1.0GHz and 1.2GHz iBooks; and the 1.25GHz eMac. Instructions for ordering a new CD are also included in the article. (Thanks to MacNN for the heads-up.)
