MacDrive 98: HFS Plus support coming Regarding our previous report that the MacDrive 98 utility (which allows Mac disks to mount on a PC) does not support HFS Plus: Steve Wood received word from Media4 Productions (makers of MacDrive) that "HFS Plus support is indeed under development, with a projected release in the fourth quarter of 1998."
Global Village V.90 upgrade modem script solves connection problem Daniel Dreifus notes that there is an "If you have problems" folder included with the Global Village V.90 firmware update to its 56K modem. The folder contains an alternate Modem Script. Using this script solved a connection problem with Netcom that Daniel started having after installing the firmware upgrade.
Update: David Anderson (of Global Village) adds: "This script only ships with the x2 -> V.90 updater." Don Fraser notes that it seems to work by "reverting the connection from V.90 back to x2." This all relates to an issue we reported previously.
CD tray opens on G3 Macs Does the CD tray of your Power Mac G3 open automatically when you power up? If so, a new Apple TIL file states: "A quick fix is to shift and reseat the Top Cover as far forward (towards you as you are facing the machine) as possible."
Apple Video Player 1.7.2 is out. "This version corrects a freeze frame problem with QuickTime 3."
Extensions Strip 1.8.1 is out. It "fixes a few bugs and adds a couple small features."
MacFixIt Help Wanted update Thanks for all of you who replied to my "help wanted" item last week. I have just about made a decision on the banner ad and the search engine jobs. I am still working on the FileMaker Pro job and should have a decision by next week. I have tried to reply to everyone who wrote. If I missed you, I apologize.
