Odds & Ends: Sound "overload" in new iBooks; IomegaWare 3.0 extension conflict?

Sound "overload" in new iBooks Jeff Waddell alerts us to the Apple Discussions thread which describes a symptom with the new Dual USB iBooks where the sound volume suddenly goes to maximum level, often accompanied by static and distortion. A few postings claim the problem goes away in Mac OS X, indicating that some Mac OS 9 software is the precipitating cause.

IomegaWare 3.0: extension conflict and work-around For those still using IomegaWare 3.0 (even though Iomega has pulled it, as we noted last week), Jorge Santini offers this solution to an extension conflict he found when using the software: "The Iomega 3.0 extensions caused my PowerBook G3 to not bootup because of an extension conflict with the Security Manager extension. My solution: Rename all the Iomega extensions so that they load last. All appears to work fine now."
