PageMaker 7.0 and Acrobat conflict Patrick Robinson writes: "With Acrobat 5.0 installed, PageMaker 7.0 reports DCS and OPI errors when attempting to create PDF files upon export to PDF. When the Postscript file is created by printing to a file Acrobat Distiller will create the PDF (if you turn off preserve OPI comments) but it will make any image in the page(s) a solid block. When the same file is built in PageMaker 6.5 the problem does not occur. Currently Adobe Tech support has no cure for this problem"

QuickSilver G4s and Disc Burner 1.0.1 installer Alan Bucknam found that QuickSilver Macs with Mac OS 9.2 cannot use the Disc Burner 1.0.1 software found on Apple's site. He writes: "I found this out when trying to 'downgrade' my authoring support files in order to avoid the high-speed disc-burning issue some users have been reporting. The 1.0.1 installer I downloaded refused to install, but I was able to work around the problem by doing a custom install of Disc Burner from the G4 system install CD. (Disc Burner is found under the Core System Software, which is the installer right at the top of the install dialog.)"

Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver): Apple Optical Drives and BURN-Proof Technology KB article 58847 describes the use of BURN-proof (Buffer Under Run Error Proof) technology in the optical drives of Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver) computers.

Quicken 2002 drops home inventory as a separate feature Barry Sharp notes that in moving from Quicken 98 to Quicken 2002, there is no easy way to preserve his home inventory information. He writes: "The Quicken 2002 User Guide says to establish a Home Inventory one should create an Asset account. Presumably I will have to manually transfer all my inventory data from Quicken 98 to Quicken 2002.

Update: Barry Sharp adds: "I've found the Quicken Home Inventory program on the Quicken 2002 CD-ROM in the 'Unsupported Applications' folder. Unfortunately for my plans to run Mac OS X only, it is a Classic program."
