Hidden folders in Office 2001 with Netware In a Novell environment, not all folders in the user's home directory show up in the open or save dialog boxes. Frank M. van den Berg writes: "Other applications show the correct content of the directory. When viewing the save as dialog box, if a new folder is created with the same name as one of the "hidden" folders you get a warning that the name is already taken. Also when documents in the recent file list of an Office application are stored in one of the "hidden" folders, they open normally, but still the folder remains invisible. This problem is Mac independent, it occurs on a G4 and a G3 both running OS 9.1, and only appears to affect network drives. A G3 OS 9.1 running Office 98 does not have the problem. Does anyone know of a workaround, or will I have to revert to Office 98?"

Office 2001 crash fix This MacFixIt Forums thread (More Finder Memory Addresses Some Office Crashes) explains one user's success at eliminating Office 2001 crashes by assigning more memory to the Finder.

Adaptec releases 39160 1.02 firmware Steve Kovs writes: "Several weeks ago Adaptec released new firmware that has some open firmware fixes for compatibility with G4s, however, it still does not resolve the deep sleep problem."

Crashing bug with Endnote and Swiss number settings Christian Schaffner writes: "With the very kindly help of the support people at Isi Researchsoft (the company behind Endnote) we were able to find and work around a crashing bug with Endnote running on MacOS 9.1 and the number control panel set to Swiss German, French or Italian. Endnote crashes due to the apostrophe character in the thousands separator of the number control panel (which is the default in Swiss settings). Changing it to a space solves the issue."
