Modem scripts pulled and then updated The Modem Puppet Show scripts were temporarily withdrawn. Daniel Jardine (who contacted the author of the scripts about this) explains: "He created his scripts using Apple's Modem Script Generator, and hadn't realized that the MSG includes Apple copyright information in the scripts it creates. He is not happy about this, and tells me he's pulled the whole Modem Puppet Show package until he can find a way of creating the scripts without using MSG.
We haven't downloaded it yet to see what has changed, but Modem Puppet Show 1.2 has been posted (at a different URL from the original).

Yamaha drive problems with certain brands of CD-RW discs P.J. Heller writes: "Yamaha's CRW4416SX drive apparently cannot read Memorex CD-RW disks, although it does work with Memorex CD-R disks. Yamaha tech support said the drive has problems with Kodak, Maxell and Memorex disks and suggested using Sony, TDK, or Verbatim instead."

Conflict Catcher Control Strip glitch? Todd Sternisha writes: "I am having a reproducible problem with the newly-released Conflict Catcher 8.0.6 Control Strip module on both my iBook and Power Mac G4 running Mac OS 8.6: The CS module will not offer any choices to the user unless 'Display Finder Menu' has been enabled. If this choice is deselected, clicking the CS module produces an italicized "Enable CC's Startup Features and Restart" message. I would assume that the point of the CS module is to offer an alternative to the Finder menu, rather than to duplicate it on the other side of the screen."

Casady & Greene now confirm this, stating that it will be fixed in the next update to Conflict Catcher.
