iMac wake-from-sleep problems persist Diana Lieb reports that there are still problems with iMacs (especially Revision A and B models) not waking up from sleep (see previous MacFixIt item). Her iMac had this problem since April. She took the iMac to an Apple Certified Dealer; they replaced the "A/V board" - which fixed the problem. The tech told her that they were seeing "a lot of this problem, as many as 14 at the time my iMac went down."
Update: Peter Sloss had the same problem. In his case, they had to replace the power supply as well as the analog video board. He adds: "Color calibration was way off when returned to me, with the green level apparently at maximum. I've reset the monitor preferences to an acceptable hue, but it's not as good as original."

FoxBase, Acrobat and Mac OS 8.6 Joseph Schaller "prints" FoxBase (an earlier version of Microsoft FoxPro) reports to Acrobat 4.0. He had no trouble doing this when running Mac OS 8.5.1. However, after updating to Mac OS 8.6, FoxBase dies immediately upon printing to Acrobat. It still prints fine to the printer, just not to Acrobat."

Spell Catcher 8 conflicts? We have two early reports of possible conflicts with Spell Catcher 8. Desmond Foulger claims that running or editing QuicKeys 4 macros cause a crash if Spell Catcher is installed. [However, Bart Windrum replies that he does not have this problem on his Mac.] Mike Salesin found that (the admittedly old and not likely to be updated program called) Click Change does not work at all after installing Spell Catcher 8.

Tip for removing Mac OS X Server Neil Gowran had problems starting up his Mac after removing Mac OS X Server from the drive and reinstalling Mac OS 8.6. He found the solution eventually: "Even after reinitializing the disk and into one volume which you are loading a normal OS software you still have to hold down the Option key on start up (and probably zap the PRAM, for the machine to read the non-OS X volume). After the first start it is fine, you no longer need to hold down the Option key on start up."
