FileGuard 4.0 security breach SecureMac.com reports that a program named Disengage 1.0 can display encrypted passwords stored within FileGuard in some circumstances. Because of the way Disengage operates, it cannot work if the SYSTEM VITAL is greater than 2 MB. The report states that Disengage was released to "demonstrate that just because there are passwords set it is not impossible to obtain unobtainable information. Intego corporation was notified of this security concern and we are sure they will be releasing patches to ensure that your user data is secured."

Morpheus for Windows incompatible with VPC Mario Cajina writes: "The Morpheus software program for peer-to-peer file sharing doesn't work on with Virtual PC 3.03 (Windows 98SE) even though it works fine on a friend's Gateway SOLO laptop. I am not sure, but I suspect that it needs to 'see' a real Pentium processor and not an emulated one."

Update: Todd Sheley, James Shank and Jason Archibald all confirm that Morpheus works fine with VirtualPC 4.0. Jason also noted that he was unable to get it to work with VPC 3.

Cybergold gone on August 31 From their Web site: "As of August 31, 2001, the Cybergold Service will be shutting down permanently. After this date, we will cease operations and discontinue our Service and your account will no longer be available on Cybergold.com. After that date, you will lose any account balance you might have had prior to that time."
