FCP2 real time editing requires Matrox Ben Thompson points out that the "real time editing" ability of Final Cut Pro 2, touted in yesterday's press release, only works if you add the Matrox RTMac board for about $1000.

Nero vs. Toast Chris Alemany replies on the Nero vs. Toast item from yesterday: "While Nero doesn't have the slick interface of Adaptec/Roxio Toast. It does have one significant advantage. With Nero, you can create .nro image files with a PC and open/use that image to create a CD on a Mac. And vice-versa. Adaptec does not provide this functionality."

Eudora: full version now requires an annual fee Rob Griffiths is unhappy with the new pricing structure for Eudora. Essentially, to get the full non-sponsored mode, you must pay an annual subscription fee. You can no longer purchase the software outright.

Update: However, Dave Baum points out that the policy is not as extreme as it may seem at first blush. As stated on this page: "Q: Will my copy of Eudora stop working when my subscription runs out? A: No, no, no. It will continue to work just as it has. You simply will no longer be eligible for new versions for free."

AppleScript Part IV MacInstruct has posted the fourth installment of its AppleScript tutorial series.
