Office Notifications and hard drive access Eudora problem? Mark Chesner installed the new Eudora 5.1B20 into his Pismo PowerBook running OS X 10.1.2. He writes: "I had been previously using Eudora 5.1B16 which had been unfailingly stable for me. When B20 was run, it opened the first time okay, but when I tried to check mail with it, it crashed with a 'Quit Now' error indicating that my settings were damaged." He is still unable to get Eudora to launch.

Office Notifications and hard drive access Chris Haagen was hearing persistent (once a second) hard drive access, even when his PowerBook G4 was otherwise idle. he eventually traced it to the pesky MS Office Notifications login item (more specifically the Microsoft Database Daemon process). The only way to get rid of it was to turn off Office Notifications in Entourage (see previous related coverage).
