Success with Epson SC 800 drivers for OS X Thomas Craig writes: "I Just installed this printer driver on a B&W G3 400 running Mac OS 10.1 and connected to an Epson SC 800 with a LocalTalk card. Everything works perfectly. The LocalTalk printer connects to an Ethernet network via an AsanteTalk Ethernet to LocalTalk bridge."

How to avoid a Kernel Panic with Pioneer DVR-A03 Dave White suggests: "I recently installed a Pioneer DVR-AO3 in my G4-450 AGP running OS X 10.1.2.When a CD mounted, the drive would stop responding after about 10 minutes. If I tried to open the CD it would crash with a kernal panic. I could not burn DVD movies as by the time iDVD was ready to write, the drive was not responding. However, it turns out the glitch is related to the hard drive spin down. If I set the drive sleep to never in the system preferences, the problem disappears."

iMac (Flat Panel) may scratch furniture Gary Davidson writes: "The bottom of the new iMac is a smooth circle of hard plastic. The base scratched the "Diamond Coat Finish" of a new Bush Executive Office desk. The scratches are tiny but visible. Our solution was to attach eight felt pads ( 3/16" x 1" dia ) on the bottom plate of the base."

Bundled CDs with new iBooks Gordon Quan, who just received a new 600 MHz Combo Drive iBook, wrote to tell us that the computer arrived with usual Software Restore CD, but it also included OS 9 and OS X install disks, an iBook applications disk, and an iPhoto CD.

Update: Tim Rosencrans adds: "Actually this seems to be a change that Apple made some time ago. We received several CRT iMacs a month ago that came with the restore and full install CDs for OS10.1 and 9.2.1. I must say that this is a great move -- a real full install CD set for each OS makes life much simpler for us techs. Now if Apple only offered a subscription service: new full install CDs shipped to you within 15 days of any major release. That would be a godsend for those of us supporting Macs." We agree!
