Odds & Ends: Claris Emailer 2.0 security vulnerability?; HyperCard and Norton AntiVirus slowdown fix

Claris Emailer 2.0 Buffer Overflow Vulnerability? From Securityfocus.com: "Due to Claris' inability to handle unusually long filenames, if a user receives an email attachment with a long filename the application may stop responding. A restart of the application may be required in order to regain normal functionality. It may be possible for remote attackers to execute arbitrary code." (Thanks, Jim Kreinbrink).

HyperCard and AntiVirus David Green writes: "Since upgrading from Mac OS 8.6 to 9.1 and to Norton AntiVirus 7.0, I have experienced extremely slow HyperCard performance. The application would run, but it took forever to open a new card. And the hard drive would thrash. I disabled the 'scan for viruses when files are opened and applications are launched' feature in AntiVirus, and HyperCard's speed is back to normal."

Update: David Ryeburn reports no such problem when using NAV 7.0.2. However, Andreas Zys found that the problem only/always exists if both NAV and PPP are loaded together.
