CarbonLib 1.3.1 and AppleScript Editor conflict workaround Following up on our previous coverage on this conflict, John Baltutis writes: "I received word from Apple's Developer Support that this is a known issue that is currently being investigated. They now have a reproducible case and are working on a fix. The workaround is to remove the Dialects folder from the Scripting Additions folder inside of the System folder."

WallStreet hinge fix Ian Pun has posted a Web page detailing the steps he took to repair the hinges on the PowerBook G3 "Wallstreet." It is not a trivial task and we don't recommend disassembling your PowerBook, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Update: David Whitacre suggests checking out this page for information on a replacement hinge that is less prone to break.

MACh Speed Control, PowerLogix G3 250, & Iomega driver conflict? Fred Brock writes: "I tried the XLR8 MACh Speed Control 2.0.2 as a replacement for the PowerLogix 3/G4 Cache Profiler 1.4b2 used with my PowerBase 240 and PowerLogix G3 250 card. Sure enough, the XLR8 software was faster, but I started crashing and traced the conflict to the Iomega Zip driver. Even eliminating the Iomega init and using Iomega Guest didn't completely solve the problem; Guest also had trouble. It was very slow to load and unload. Going back to the PowerLogix software eliminated the problems." [See also previous item.]
