Quark; Fireworks; Coppermine Pentium bug Photoshop won't launch? Mark Tuleweit writes: "My version of Photoshop 5.5 won't launch today (December 1) telling me that it is an expired beta version although it is a full retail version that I received months ago. I did a Get Info and it mentions nothing of a Beta." Anyone know what is going on with this?

QuarkXPress 4.1 is being shipped free to Quark 4.O users. Among other things, it offers improved support for PDF and scripting, as well as an enhanced HTML filter to convert text from QuarkXPress text boxes into HTML, and import HTML text into QuarkXPress documents. (Thanks, Peter Anton.)

Coppermine bug halts Dell shipments A ZDNet news article states: "A bug in the high-end Pentium III chip has forced Dell Computer to stop shipping its Optiplex GX110 corporate desktop."

Not to Be Not new news exactly, but a column by Jean-Louis Gassée in the September 1 issue of Be Newsletter discusses why the BeOS is not compatible with G3 and G4 Macs. The conclusion: "Apple owns and operates an OS and, like Microsoft, see no reason to help a competitor." Thus Apple decided "not to help us with access to chipset technical data for a G3/G4 BeOS port."
