AirPort 1.3 and loss of signal after PowerBook sleep John Transue writes: "After installing AirPort 1.3, my FireWire PowerBook running Mac OS 9.1 no longer detects an AirPort network if it has been asleep for more than 5 minutes. If I turn off the Software Base Station (running on a G4) and turn it right back on again, the signal is again detected." We have had no other reports of this, but John has found similar descriptions on Apple's Discussion Boards.

MacInstruct on CGI A recent MacInstruct tutorial covers CGI scripting.

Nero not out yet Yesterday, we mentioned Nero software and implied that it was currently available. Readers claim it is not actually out yet. Here is what the Ahead web site says: "NeroMAX has been released and can be found bundled with selected CD recorders on the market. The retail version of NeroMAX for Macintosh is scheduled to be released in May 2001."

Victor Mercado adds: "Once Toast 5 Titanium is released, that will be your best bet for VCD burning. It has a much better interface." Jolyon Druce concurs.

Quicken and Discover Card: it now works Rich August writes: "MacFixIt has covered the on again, off again responses from the Discover Card folks on whether transaction downloads would be supported in Quicken for Mac. Happily, this issue seems to have finally been resolved. I'm not quite sure when the change in policy occurred, but updating your Financial Institutions in Quicken for Mac now returns entries for Discover Card, and the Discover Card web site now documents that Discover Card downloads are supported in Quicken 2000 and Quicken 2001 for Mac. No mention is made of earlier versions. Release 3 is required for Quicken 2000 for Mac. I've set this up in Quicken 2001, and it seems to work fine, with no problems."
