Adaptec replies on 2930u card's supposed G4 conflict Previously, we ran an item stating that an Adaptec "2930u SCSI card may not work in a Power Mac G4 733MHz," and suggesting that the problem may relate to the odd-numbered MHz of the processor. An Adaptec representative sent us this note in reply: "The only issues with the new 733MHz G4 machines that Adaptec is aware of deal with Sleep Mode. See KnowledgeBase article 991201-0000 at http://ask.adaptec.com for details. Outside of the sleep issues, the Power Domain 2930 card should currently work in both original and new G4 models."

AppleScript to switch between Toast and iTunes/Disc Burner John Melby writes: "I've written a free AppleScript application that allows the user with a USB CD-R/RW drive supported by Apple to switch back and forth between Toast and iTunes/Disc Burner without rebooting (it does require the CD burner to be turned off and then back on). It works for my ZipCD 650, but I can't guarantee that it will work for everyone."

CD Revo drive works well Tim Mityok purchased a CD Revo CD-R/W drive and writes; "It uses a Sanyo mechanism (12x/10x/32x), connectivity is FireWire with 2 plugs, has a slim case w/handle on the back end and works perfectly with Disc Burner 1.0.1 and iTunes 1.1 software. I didn't even bother trying to install the OEM Toast software that came with the drive. I plugged it in and it was recognized immediately."
