Acrobat Reader 5.0 won't print to an HP LaserJet Dave Wells writes: "After installing the new free Acrobat Reader 5.0 from Adobe, it won't print to my HP LaserJet, which has been working for years. I use a G4 Cube with the LaserWriter 8 driver. This combination prints with all other applications, and worked just fine with Acrobat Reader 4.05." Also see previous one, two, and three.

Update: Several readers replied that they have not had this problem with HP LaserJet 4V/4MV, HP LaserJet 2100M, and Optra printers. Another did confirm the problem: "I too experienced the problem: Acrobat 5.0 freezing and refusing to print to a HP LJ5M. I went back to v4 of Acrobat Reader."

CarbonLib update and AppleScript Script Editor conflict? James Smith writes, "The soon to be released CarbonLib 1.3.1 is not compatible with Script Editor 1.6. Recording a script may cause the computer to hang." We have not yet confirmed this ourselves.

VectorWorks, Nvidia, G4 & 9.1 Anand Zenz notes that problems arose in VectorWorks 8 after upgrading to a G4 with Mac OS 9.1 and an Nvidia graphics card. He writes: "The main problem is that any selected object has invisible resize handles or cannot be seen at all. (Another problem is that the dropper tool drops the wrong attributes on new walls when in black screen mode.) Gomark, the UK VectorWorks reseller is aware of the problem but was unable to say if it has been fixed in VectorWorks 9."

Update: Shannon Calvert writes: "This is a known VectorWorks conflict and affects both NVidia cards and the ATI Radeon. The problem is NOT fixed in version 9, but is supposed to be addressed in an upcoming 9.1 update. As a workaround, you can either switch to 256 colors or disable the NVidia 2D acceleration extension."

VPC 4 and Jeppesen Fllight Star After upgrading to Virtual PC 4, Howard Tobin began encountering problems with Jeppesen Flight Star 8.3. He writes: "Horizontal lines appear in the maps in the Mercatur and horizontal projections. When other map configurations are shown, the lines disappear. I can run the same software on two other computers under Virtual PC 3 with no problem."

XLR8 beta 7 conflicts with Global Village fax software Lon Bernell writes: "xlr8 2.0.2 beta 7 blocks my attempts at sending a fax using a Global Village Teleport modem with GlobalFax version 2.6.8. The problem disappears when I switch back to xlr8 version 1.4.3."
