Word 97-98 Converter problems Scott Kieffer writes: "After installing the Word 97-98 Converter, Word 6.0.1a would get to the Word splash screen and then would hang. This would necessitate a force quit. I found that the problem was in the 'Word Settings (6)' Prefs file. After removing it and restarting, Word launched with no problem." Yesterday's MacInTouch describes another problem with this Converter.

Default Folder new beta A new public beta version of Default Folder 2.7.7 is available. This version updates Default Folder's "click in Finder window" feature to work correctly with Mac OS 8.1, and also fixes a bug affecting Adobe's PDFWriter when printing from Internet Explorer.

AlSoft's DiskExpress 3.0 is out (as reported by MacWEEK). The update to this optimization program adds several new features, including support for Apple-events scripting.
