Epson and Birmy Chris Ferebee found that using Birmy's PowerRIP PostScript RIP software (an Adobe PostScript interpreter that lets you print using the LaserWriter driver) - rather than any of the software from Epson - solved all the problems he was having with his Epson printer.

Quark, Netscape and corrupted fonts A reader could not launch Quark Xpress due to an "out of memory" error (even though enough memory was available). A tip on Quark's web site suggested this might be due to a corrupted font. Reinstalling clean copies of all his fonts fixed the problem. A bonus: problems with Netscape crashing on launch also disappeared when the fonts were replaced.

Madge Token Ring driver update Recently, we mentioned the Madge Token Ring Smart 16/4 PCI card. An update for the driver appears to have been posted last week (thanks, Version Tracker).
