Quicken 98 floppy disk problem Bill Fox alerted me to a report on his Macs Only! Web site: Several readers reported apparently defective Quicken 98 Basic floppy disks. A reader replied: "The disks aren't bad, it's the install process. When swapping the disks while loading the software, sometimes the installer gets confused and overwrites the inserted disk with the data from a previously inserted disk. Users should engage the disks' 'Write Protect' tabs before beginning the install process."

"Troubleshooting iMacs" report on MacFixIt With the release of the iMac now just a bit more than two weeks away, I am requesting that readers that get their hands on these machines send in any troubleshooting reports ASAP. I will be starting a "Troubleshooting iMacs" MacFixIt Report as soon as the situation warrants.

CIH Virus Want another reason to be glad you don't use a PC?: You could be infected by the dreaded CIH virus. Not only can it wipe out your hard drive, it "even causes the system BIOS chip to erase itself -- essentially making the computer 'forget' its internal language." (Thanks, Monty Solomon.)
