DiskExpress Pro advice Alsoft's DiskExpress Pro 3.0.2 download page also features some troubleshooting tips. It explains what to do if DiskExpress Pro reports a -411, -415 or -51 error.

USB keyboards: don't plug them into USB hubs A new Apple TIL article (#24935) notes that you cannot startup your Mac from a USB keyboard if the keyboard is plugged into a USB hub rather than the Mac itself: This is because "most USB hubs will not become active until they receive a signal from the computer."

LaserWriter 8.6.x: Unpredictable Results With LPR Print Queue A recent TIL article (#30009) notes that: "If LaserWriter 8.5.1 previously printed successfully to this Unix print server and now newer version of the LaserWriter printer driver do not, then the problem you have encountered may be due to the Owner and Computer Name entered in the File Sharing control panel." Essential Mac Tools The August issue of Macworld has a feature article on Essential Mac Tools. A Utility Roundup page (only available online) summarizes the ratings of the 15 utilities mentioned in the article, plus another twenty not mentioned. The Roundup gives ratings to the utilities covered in our Disk Repair/Recovery Utilities Forum. It gives 4 stars to TechTool Pro and Disk Warrior, 3 and 1/2 stars to MacMedic and 3 stars to Norton Utilities. It does not mention Data Rescue.

The MacSoft Unreal patch is now up to version 2.2.4b4. It "fixes slowdowns in b3, plus a few minor tweaks, and has all previous fixes - problems with AppleTalk games, problems opening several third party maps, and a bug that messed up moving platforms/boats."
