Sony and Connectix Game Station In a MacWEEK article, Roy K. McDonald, president and CEO of Connectix, is quoted as saying that Virtual Game Station will ship to retailers as soon as Connectix can finish producing the packaging. Despite this, rumors continue to swirl regarding negotiations between Connectix and Sony and/or possible legal action by Sony against this Game Station emulator (as noted in Wired News).

SyQuest assets move to Iomega As stated in a SyQuest press release: SyQuest has agreed to "sell certain assets including all of its intellectual property, its U.S. inventory and its U.S. fixed assets for $9.5 million in cash" to Iomega.

Quark and Mac OS 8.5 font display problem: a follow-up Regarding the bold type problem with QuarkXPress (mentioned here last time), several readers suggest it is a more general Mac OS 8.5 issue, rather than a Quark-specific one. Dennis Wallace suggests a work-around for PostScript fonts: use the bold version of the font, rather than selecting Bold from the Style menu. Finally, the FractionalBoldPatch (previously noted on MacFixIt) also fixes the problem.

Sherlock Resource Site has a new URL.

AutoMenus Pro (by NightLight Software) appears to be no more. As noted by Frank Piccolo, their web site appears to be gone. However, you can still get the program from Apple's ftp sites.

New IomegaWare?; SCSI caution Julie Bozzo writes that the Iomega Zip 250 comes with a newer version (v 1.1.2) of IomegaWare than the v. 1.0 currently available on the web. She also found this disclaimer: "Iomega internal testing indicates that the Zip drive works when connected to the end of a Fast SCSI-2 or Ultra SCSI chain using a high quality cable. However, the drive does not meet SCSI-2 or Ultra SCSI specifications and may not work correctly in these configurations. Data integrity could possibly be affected."

DVD help A just-updated Apple TIL article (#30878) gives solutions to the following issues: 1. When inserting a DVD disc, it will not mount/read on the desktop and I get the initialize window. 2. I cannot select items in the DVD Menu with the cursor. 3. I get no sound when playing a movie. 4. Movies are pausing and missing frames. 5. I played a not-region one disc and it states, ''If I play this region 4 more times the drive will be set to this region and I will no longer be able to play region one discs.''
