MultiScan repair: a follow-up Last time, we reported that you could still get Apple's 15" MultiScan monitor repaired for free by taking it to an Authorized Service Provide. As pointed out by several readers, the procedure can be even simpler. If you call Apple, and if you have the "right" symptoms, Apple will send you a box for you to send the monitor back to them. They will then repair it and send it back to you, all at no charge. To make sure you get this approved, tell the representative that you are aware that there is a Warranty Repair Exception for this monitor. Ask to speak to someone else if the representative claims to be unaware of it. (Thanks, Dennis Supanich, Neil Jensen and Andy Mitchell.)

CanOpener lets users safely read text in a suspect file without triggering a virus. They can even extract the text if they wish. It is especially effective against 'Melissa' type viruses. CanOpener also has special text filters that allow users to: extract names, phone numbers, URLs, email, Web and IP Addresses, strip HTML coding, remove extra carriage returns and blank spaces from email and Web text, and more."
