BoardScan Updated MacFixIt's BoardScan has been updated today with new items on using DiskCopy, unclogging StyleWriters (reader suggestions), and DVD troubleshooting.

The future of fonts Alsoft's Ask Al describes what the future holds for Macintosh fonts, based on what was revealed at the WWDC. In particular, look for FontSync, a font technology that will do for font matching what ColorSync does for color matching.

Entrega USB hub and Global Village USB modem Bob Dalley found that he could not get his Global Village USB modem to work when connected via his Entrega 4-port USB PCI card. It appears that the Entrega card does not supply enough power to run the modem.

Update: Edward Cantrell had a similar problem that turned out not to be power-related. Instead, switching from FreePPP to PPP solved it.

Internet phone audio glitch Bernard Lipschitz received the following reply from Vocaltec Technical Support regarding a problem with Internet Phone: "See if you have a setting to select lower than 44kHz. If not, this may be where the problem lies because Internet Phone only supports audio to 22kHz and the G3 or iMac does not support audio below 44kHz."

Z-Force Accelerator System PowerLogix is accepting pre-orders for their Z-Force Accelerator System for Power Macintosh and clones. This allows non-G3 PCI-based Macs (such as the 7500, 7600 and 8500) to use the new ZIF G3 processor modules.

8500 gone? A reader was told by a reseller that Apple has discontinued the LaserWriter 8500, marking the end of Apple's line of printers.
