Obama turns to Facebook to decide which turkey to pardon
Each year, the president picks a national turkey. This year, President Obama is letting Facebook users choose between Cobbler and Gobbler. But don't worry, the loser won't be anyone's dinner.
If Facebook had been around when "The West Wing" was still on NBC, this would be straight out of an episode of the long-running Aaron Sorkin hit.
Instead, this is for real: As is an annual White House tradition, President Barack Obama is getting ready to pardon a turkey. But he's got two to choose from, and if you're on Facebook, you can help the president decide which one gets the nod.
On Wednesday, Obama will pardon the 2012 National Thanksgiving Turkey and this year, for the first time ever, the American public will get its say. People all across the country are flocking to cast their vote.
Which of two turkeys will be named the 2012 National Thanksgiving Turkey?
Born on the same day on a farm in Rockingham Country, Virginia, Cobbler and Gobbler may look alike, but they're no birds of a feather. Cobbler craves cranberries, is known for his strut, and enjoys the musical stylings of Carly Simon. Gobbler, a patient but proud bird, loves to nibble on corn and enjoys any music with a fiddle.

Fortunately, according to the White House, the losing turkey will get to keep on being a turkey. "After the pardoning," the White House wrote, "both turkeys travel to George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens to reside in a custom-made enclosure at Mount Vernon's nationally recognized livestock facility."
But only one gets to be the National Thanksgiving Turkey. Will it be Gobbler? Or Cobbler?
