a. Kaleidoscope 1.6 is out. You can get it from several additional locations, including a new Kaleidoscope web site and the MRP. There is also a new Third Party Scheme Archive. Version 1.6 is significantly faster than previous versions and fixes long-standing problems with WindowShade, DoubleScroll, the Global Village menu, and ATM. (Thanks, Greg Landweber.)
b. Netscape Communicator 4.0b5 is out. (Thanks, Dave Hamilton.)
c. File Buddy, a general utility for working with files and folders, has been updated yet again, this time to version 4.0.4.
d. CopyThru 2.5.1, a utility for copying removable cartridges, is now out. It fixes more than two dozen bugs. But you might want to wait a bit before downloading it. A 2.5.2 version, designed to fix a problem with "CheckRegistration" errors, is expected out shortly.
e. MemMapper is now up to 1.3.5. This utility gives you a graphic display of how your software is currently allocated to the Mac's memory. It includes more details than Apple's "About This Computer" window. (first spotted this on the MRP.)
