SCSI card TIL returns Apple TIL article #58205 (Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White): Which SCSI Card to Use with Slower SCSI Devices) is back again (Thanks, Dave Meimann). Some highlights:
"With the card installed in your computer, you can also boot up the computer from externally connected drives."

"Note: The Apple Ultra SCSI PCI Card is functionally equivalent to the Adaptec Power Domain 2930 Ultra SCSI card."

"Note: Different types of SCSI devices connected to a SCSI channel operate only as fast as the slowest device on the chain. For example, a SCSI-2 (10MBps) tape drive and a SCSI-1 (5MBps) hard disk on the same SCSI channel will both operate at 5MBps."

Update: Sean Collins notes that the original title of this article was: "Ultra2 SCSI Compatibility with Older SCSI Drives." The revised article no longer even mentioned Ultra2.

Maximum number of fonts TIL article #24791 summarizes information about the maximum number of fonts that can be in the Fonts folder: "The Fonts folder can hold a maximum of 128 files. This includes font suitcases, and individual font files such as bitmapped (or screen) fonts and TrueType fonts. PostScript (or printer) fonts are not included in the 128-file limit. Suitcases can contain multiple font families and can be as large as 16 Mb. If you have more than 128 files, place individual bitmap or TrueType font files into suitcases, or merge suitcases. Merge suitcase files by dragging one suitcase file on top of another suitcase file."

Update: Wayne Jennings reports that Key Caps may not show all fonts even if you stay under the 128 font limit.

Web page loading troubleshooting TIL article #24793 walks you through some basic troubleshooting for when a web browser will not load web pages after making an apparently successful modem connection.

No enabler needed TIL article #58181 notes that a separate enabler file is not needed for the new Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White). The enabler is now merged with the Mac OS ROM file. The Power Macintosh G3 OS is 8.5.1 based with modifications for the hardware.

Connecting an original Studio Display to a new G3 TIL article #58257 notes that when connecting a Rev. A Apple Studio Display to a new Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White), you need to use the adapter that came with the computer (part Number 590-1120-A), not the one that came with the display (part number 590-0322-A). Otherwise, Monitors and Sound control panel will not list the correct options.

Cleaning translucent plastic TIL article #30889 recommends Klear Screen by Meridrew Enterprises for cleaning the translucent plastic on the iMac and new G3s. However, it says that many other products should work just as well.
