Norton Utilities 6.0.2, Live Update 1.6.2 and Mac OS X

CNET staff
We tried to use Live Update, running in Mac OS 9, to install the Norton Utilities 6.0.2 update (mentioned here yesterday). We could not get Live Update to do this. We kept getting the error where it claimed that Norton 5.0.3 was our latest version - even though we followed the instructions in the Knowledge Base article that explains how to supposedly fix this.

Michael Kincaid was able to download the update. He sent us a list of what's new, which includes:

  • Norton Disk Doctor repairs hard link, symbolic link and BSD attribute flag errors which may cause damage to OS X drives
  • Improved compatibility with OS X hard drives
  • Locked volume error reclassified as a Minor error

All the Symantec updates also include a Live Update 1.6.2 Update. What's new here is:

  • Includes OS X compatible version of LiveUpdate
  • LiveUpdate verified to work in the Classic environment of Mac OS X
