Lumia Black is a firmware update for Nokia's Lumia range of Windows phones. It adds a number of features to the OS as well as tweaking some of its existing ones.

Out of the seven changes included in the update, the two most prominent ones are app folders and the new glance screen. The addition of folders allows the grouping of apps, just as Android and iOS have offered for a while.

The glance screen gets a design update, including the ability to show more icons. This screen appears when your phone is locked and currently displays the time, date, and new notifications. With the update, you'll be able to receive notifications from up to five apps of your choosing on the lock screen. This allows you to see what's happening in your e-mail, calendar, text messages and more.
