Nokia has confirmed its first big-screen device, the Lumia 1520, will be hitting Australia 11 December.

The Lumia 1520 was announced at a lavish launch event in Abu Dhabi back in late October. The 6-inch 1080p device takes advantage of the latest Windows Phone 8.1 update to deliver a three-column home screen layout. The Lumia 1520 maintains Nokia's high-end camera experience with a 20-megapixel PureView camera with optical image stabilisation, plus the addition of RAW support and Lytro-style refocusing tools. It also includes Category 4 long-term evolution (LTE) for the fastest data speeds this side of LTE-Advanced.

Every Lumia 1520 purchased before 15 January will receive a AU$20 app voucher for use in the Windows Phone Store.

Interestingly, the phone will launch in black, white and yellow options for AU$899, exclusively through Harvey Norman stores. Pre-orders are now open in-store and online. There is no word on availability through carriers for those looking to buy on contract.

Lumia 1520 protective covers will be available in black and yellow for AU$34.95.
