Word had it that Nokia was unwrapping its big-screened Lumia 1520 smartphone on September 26 , but new reports say the device most likely won't be debuted until mid-October, according to The Verge.

The 6-inch Windows Phone has popped up in various photos leaked online , but Nokia has kept mum on all information about the device.

Code-named Bandit, the 1520 will reportedly offer a 1080p screen, granting it the largest and sharpest display among all Windows Phone devices. More 1080p Windows Phone handsets are expected to follow. The 1520 will also reportedly be constructed with a polycarbonate body and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, while a 20-megapixel camera will grace the rear.

One of the possible reasons for the delay of the rumored smartphone's launch is the $7.2 billion sale of Nokia's device and services division to Microsoft announced earlier this month.

As part of the deal, Stephen Elop will step down as Nokia's chief executive to become the executive vice president of the devices and services division. Elop, a former Microsoft executive, is one of a handful of candidates suggested to replace Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who is expected to retire by next summer.

CNET contacted Nokia for comment. We'll update this story when we get more information.
