Nintendo's limited-edition black Wii launching in UK in November

Nintendo is launching a limited-edition black version of the Wii games console in the UK. Whether or not this makes it worth buying is open for debate

It's quiet around here today, so here's something bitesize. Nintendo is launching a limited-edition black version of the Wii games console in the UK, complete with black controllers.

Yes, a black console! That's news. Who said it wasn't? It'll launch here on 6 November and come bundled with Wii Sports Resort and the original Wii Sports.

Other black accessories, including the Wii Motion Plus adaptor and Classic controller, will be available individually from 20 November. No price has been confirmed, but we expect the black bundle will hover around the £200 mark.

So now, like Japan, we've got an obsidian Wii and some spooky, blood-and-gutsy titles to play on it. Is Nintendo's chicken-in-a-basket style console finally worth a snack if you're a serious gamer?

In a word, no. In two, it hasn't.
