Nexus 5 UK price and release date

Google's much anticipated Nexus 5 smart phone is finally official and will be available to buy from shops tomorrow, or from the Google Play Store now, starting at £299 SIM-free for the 16GB version or £339 for the 32GB model.

O2 is the only network that will have the 32GB model on a contract. Prices will start at £32 per month, which will get you 600 minutes and unlimited texts along with 750MB of data. That's only 3G speeds, not the faster 4G, but it is on O2's Refresh plan that lets you upgrade your phone without buying out of your whole contract.

Pop over to Carphone Warehouse and you can snag the phone on O2's network for £32 per month with unlimited calls and 1GB of data -- that's for the 16GB model though, and there's no easy way out of your contract. It is offering the phone on O2's 4G network though, for faster data downloads. It'll set you back £37 per month, with 2GB of data and the first 1,000 customers will snag a free 2012 Google Nexus 7. Alternatively, Carphone is offering the phone for £295 SIM-free -- knocking a few quid off Google's price.

Three is offering the phone for £49 up front on its £35 per month One plan, which snags you unlimited data but you'll need to sign up for two years. Both Vodafone and EE have confirmed to CNET that they won't be offering the new phone, although neither has given any reason as to why. 

The Nexus 5 itself sounds pretty amazing, with a 5-inch Full HD display, a 2.3GHz quad-core processor, an 8-megapixel camera and the latest Android 4.4 KitKat software. We're gagging to get our hands on one and we'll bring you a full review as soon as we can.
