New Macs and keyboards: more info An update to our Desktop Macs Summer 2000 MacFixIt Report offers more information (from Dieder Bylsma) on turning on and off your new Mac via keys on the new Pro or the older USB keyboards. Consensus appears hard to come by here.

FireWire CD-RW drive and FireWire PCI card: no go? Theo Maschas reports that he could not get a Sony Spressa 145XE FireWire drive to burn CDs when connected via a FireWire PCI card to a G3-upgraded 7600, using either Discribe 2.99 or Toast 4.1. The drive appears to work when connected to built-in FireWire on newer Macs. CharisMac Tech Support told him that they had not tested Discribe on Macs with FireWire PCI cards.

MicroTek ScanWizard problems Postings in the MacFixIt Forums continue to report problems with MicroTek's ScanWizard 5 software (see one and two for examples). No definite work-arounds have been found as yet.
