Blinking folder icon Several readers wrote about the new blinking System Folder icon that appears when an iMac or G3/BW Mac can't find a startup disk (as noted previously). Given that these Macs do not come with floppy drives any more, I guess the old blinking floppy disk icon was due for an update.

NetBoot key at startup Speaking of startup issues, Apple was apparently getting ready for NetBooting even before Mac OS X Server came out. For example, try holding down the N key at startup on an iMac. If you are connected to a Mac OS X Server, this is how you NetBoot (see Mac OS X Server report). But if you are not connected, your Mac will likely simply refuse to start at all. You'll have to hit the Power button to restart again. At least that's what happened to me. (Thanks also to Richard Jenkins.)
