Windows Vista interface "better than Mac OS X" in some ways eWeek opines that Windows Vista is the best-looking OS Microsoft has ever produced and is competitive with, and in some ways better, than Apple's recently-introduced Mac OS X 10.4, aka Tiger. "Microsoft's UI designers have figured out how to streamline the familiar Windows user interface without losing what it means to be Windows. Vista will not be confused with Tiger, but each now sports a very nice user interface. This was a very pleasant surprise, since I didn't really have any UI expectations." More.

BusinessWeek: Don't count on a video iPod BusinessWeek attempts to play down speculation that Apple will release an iPod designed for portable video viewing in the coming months. "While some expect the company to unveil a revolutionary new kind of iPod, designed specifically for playing video, chances are the company will simply fold some video capabilities into all future iPods. That means no separate product name -- and no big advertising blitz." More.

Apple in massive Broward County iBook deal Macworld UK reports on Apple's announcement that it will supply 30,000 new iBook G4s to Broward County Public Schools. "The new portable Macs will be used by all students in the district between kindergarten and twelfth grade. The iBooks will be the current models, announced yesterday." More.
