The piece contains no mention of any plans to develop a Mac version: "WordPerfect faded into obscurity as the application changed hands-it was acquired by Novell in 1994 and then by Corel in 1996-and its owners all but forgot they even owned the product. Apple MIA from the living room ExtremeTech discusses Apple's lack of an Apple-branded consumer, media device."Despite its innovative spirit, there's one place where Apple has been notably absent: the living room. For all the different kinds of media pushes the company has made -- iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto, iLife, GarageBand, etc -- it's odd that it hasn't created a Mac that can live in your component rack. Chip market shrare statics Another ExtremeTech report cites statistics indicating that Intel dominated the 2003 chip market, while Motorola sold fewer chips. "Intel Corp. easily maintained its position as the top semiconductor supplier in the world in 2003, holding a market share roughly 2.5 times larger than its nearest competitor. However, market data published Thursday by Semico Research Corp., Phoenix, Ariz., found that several of the top 10 chip suppliers of 2003 lost market share, as startups and other smaller companies began to move up the ladder. Only three - Samsung Electronics, Texas Instruments, and Infineon Technologies - actually increased their market share compared to 2002, Semico found." More.
