The Mac lovers at Microsoft The Seattle Post Intelligencer has a report about the throbbing Mac heart of Microsoft "People sometimes stare when Microsoft Corp. executive Tim McDonough opens his laptop in meetings. But that's probably to be expected when someone uses a Mac PowerBook in the center of the Windows world. 'I can get challenged to see my employee badge' he says. McDonough works in Microsoft's Macintosh Business Unit, one of the closest things to neutral ground in a computer world divided into technological factions. The Mac BU, as it's known, makes Microsoft software for Apple computers, bridging the gulf between the companies' operating systems and linking their respective followers in the process." More.

Apple's '1984' a watershed event Apple Computer's famous "1984" commercial, which introduced the Macintosh, wasn't the only computer ad that aired during that year's Super Bowl, but according to USA Today "It's just the only one that changed people's lives - particularly people who already loved technology. Twenty Super Bowls later, many tech industry leaders say the ad and the first Mac played an inspiring role in their career paths. It was one of those rare bolts of lightning that can mobilize a generation in a particular field - the way John F. Kennedy's call for a man on the moon motivated the aerospace crowd, or Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein rallied young journalists with their Watergate investigation." More.
