Steve Jobs, iCon Review; "Bad writing" The Digital Bulletin has a pejorative review of the Steve Jobs biography "iCon." Dan Sumption writes "This may seem like nit-picking, but Young and Simon's inability to invent a coherent title is merely the summit of a mountain of bad writing, non-sequiturs and niggling errors that occur throughout the book. There are frequent cockamamie sentences like "this would turn out to be a brilliant decision, but not for a reason nobody would have guessed at the time,' linguistic redundancies like "a Jolly Roger pirate flag, complete with skull and crossbones' or 'the Mac's one Achilles Heel,' talk of deals that are 'anteed up' and payments that are 'ponied up'" More.

Wireless iPod headphones Writing for The Wall Street Journal Walt Mossberg reviews a new set of Bluetooth-based iPod wireless headphones manufactured by Logitech. "Such wireless headphones have long been a dream of hard-core iPod fanatics. And this product is one of the first of what could be a flood of wireless headphones for the iPod and other music devices, especially as the headphones' prices and sizes decrease. [...] My assistant Katie Boehret and I have been testing Logitech's new wireless headphones with a $299 20-gigabyte iPod and a $199 four-gigabyte iPod Mini (any iPod with a dock connector will work) to see how they work." Broadband-speed PDA/Cell phone In another article for The Wall Street Journal, Walt Mossberg reviews the Samsung i710, a Microsoft-based smart phone that can use Verizon Wireless' new broadband-speed wireless network. " The new Samsung can operate at speeds roughly comparable to home digital subscriber line, or DSL, connections through Verizon's wireless Broadband Access network, which works on a wireless technology called EVDO. Or it can use speedy Wi-Fi wireless networking at places like coffee shops and airports. [...] I have been testing the new i730 and comparing it to the Treo 650 from Sprint that I carry as my own phone. The Samsung worked as promised for making voice calls, accessing Web sites, and sending and receiving emails. It also played music and videos and displayed photos, though unlike my Sprint Treo, the configuration Verizon sells lacks a camera." More.
